Belair Stable Museum
After purchasing the
Belair estate, New York's Woodward family built the Belair Stable just a
short distance from the mansion to house some of their celebrated
Thoroughbred racing stock. The plantation was hailed in colonial times
for its famous race horses, and from its 1907 construction, the Belair
Stable produced such notable steeds as Gallant Fox and Omaha, the only
father and son Triple Crown winners, and Nashua, one of the greatest
champions of his day.
