SITES AND MUSEUMS
The Laurel Museum
Built in the early 1840s, this
brick and stone house was one of 50 units built for millworkers of the
nearby Laurel Cotton Mill. Designed for four families, it might have
housed as many as six. Purchased by the city in 1985 from the state of
Maryland, it was renovated and opened as a museum in 1996 and is run
today by the Laurel Historical Society. The museum features a modern
exhibit gallery, library, gift shop, and authentic basement showing
original beams and stairs.
