Montpelier Mansion

This large manor house is one of the finest examples of 18th-century Georgian architecture in the state. Montpelier's construction began after the marriage off Ann Ridgely and Major Thomas Snowden in 1774, each a member of prominent Maryland families. Such notable figures as George Washington and Abigail Adams visited the Snowden family. Today the mansion rests on 70 acres of rolling parkland unencroached by modern development.
