Poplar Hill on His Lordships Kindness

Robert Darnall built this National Historic Landmark between 1785 and 1787. The home was built on a land grant, known as His Lordship's Kindness, that his ancestor, Colonel Henry Darnall, received in 1703 from Lord Baltimore. The house has been the home of justices of the county and levy courts, a U.S. Senator, and a U.S. Ambassador. The grounds include several historic outbuildings.
